What is Gaelic football?Gaelic Football is a field game which has developed as a distinct game similar to the progression of Australian Rules. In Melbourne there is both a mens football and womens football league. What is Hurling and Camogie?Hurling is an ancient game with records dating back to the 5th century. A game that resembles hockey but with wide ended sticks, the ball hit around high in the air and caught by hand. Who can play Gaelic football and Hurling?Anyone can play! Whether an old hand at the sports coming over from Ireland or someone who has never seen a Gaelic ball or Hurley before - everyone is welcome to come and give the Gaelic sports a go. All clubs welcome new players at any time of year so find a club near you and join now! When does the Gaelic season run?Gaelic football is traditionally a winter sport and in Melbourne begins in February with club comps such as the Pearses 7's and the Wolfe Tones Railway Cup. Where is Gaelic football and Hurling played in Victoria?Gaelic Park is the home of Gaelic sports in Victoria. On any given Sunday from March to August all teams go to Gaelic Park in Keysborough to participate in the games. Where do teams train?All the Victorian teams train in around Melbourne.
